ANNOTATION OF THE COURSE

AGRICULTURAL MARKET INFRASTRUCTURE AND AGROTRADING

Recommended for applicants of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education.

The purpose of the course is to understand the basics of the functioning of the agricultural market and the main components of its infrastructure (exchanges, wholesale and retail trade, transportation and storage of agricultural products, information support of the market), as well as learn to assess their effectiveness and carry out trading activities in agricultural goods.

The knowledge and skills acquired during the study of the course are necessary for carrying out trading activities in the domestic and international markets of agricultural goods, participating in exchange trading, managing trading companies, carrying out transport and logistics activities, as well as when working in financial institutions, consulting companies and government bodies that perform regulatory functions.

 

Interdisciplinary connections. The discipline is taught to applicants of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education and is related to other academic disciplines, in particular, "Marketing", "International Economics", "Enterprise Economics".

Identify sources and understand the essence of the agricultural market and its functioning, the concept and types of market infrastructure, the meaning of the agricultural market infrastructure, the essence and goals of state regulation of market infrastructure. Know the functioning of exchange trade in agricultural products, the features and procedure for creating agricultural trading houses, types and functions of wholesale and retail trade in agricultural products, analytical and methodological tools for substantiating proposals and making decisions.

Know the methodology for analyzing state and market regulation of relations between agricultural market entities.

Identify sources and understand the methodology for determining and methods for obtaining data on markets for individual types of agricultural products, collect and analyze the necessary information, calculate the level of efficiency of the agricultural market infrastructure, analyze price changes in the markets

Apply analytical and methodological tools to substantiate proposals and make decisions regarding trading on the exchange (on spot, forward and futures terms), hedging price risks.

Be able to analyze the processes of state and market regulation of market relations, assess the effectiveness of state regulation of the development of the agricultural market.

Be able to analyze factors and trends of the external and internal environment, on the basis of which to develop measures for the development of agricultural market entities and assess their economic effect.
