Department of Management

The Department of Management is a part of the Faculty of Economics and Management and was one of the first to start teaching and research in the field of Management. The Department of Management provides teaching of the compulsory discipline ‘Management’ of the professional training cycle to applicants of all specialities studying at the university, as well as to students of all master's programmes of the Institute of Business Education of KNEU.

The department trains personnel for organisational and managerial, educational and research activities in the field of organisational management and provides training for specialists in the educational qualification levels of ‘Bachelor’, ‘Master’ and ‘Doctor of Philosophy’ in the speciality 073 ‘Management’.

The bachelor's degree programme provides competencies for managers in the specialisation of Management of Business Organisations.

Master's degree programmes include the following:

1. Project Management and Consulting.

2. Management of Business Organisations.

3. Business Administration (universal) - at the Anatoliy Poruchnyk Educational and Research Institute of Business Education.

4. Compliance Management of Organisations - also at the Anatoliy Poruchykn Educational and Research Institute of Business Education.

Postgraduate students are enrolled in the Management study programme.

The mission of the Department of Management is to promote quality management in organisations in Ukraine and abroad through innovations and achievements in science and education and to train professional managers for the effective development of the country and improvement of living standards.

Teachers

The scientific and pedagogical potential of the Department of Management in the academic year 2024-2025 is represented by a team of 34 teachers, including 10 Doctors of Economics, 18 Candidates of Economics, 2 senior lecturers, 1 assistant.

History of the department

The Department of Management was established in February 1992 - at the beginning of market transformations in Ukraine - to implement a fundamentally new direction of training in management for the national education system at that time. The department was headed by Sergiy Sobol, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, for many years.

In 1999, the Department created a section of technological disciplines, headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Dmytro Kolotylo, Honorary Inventor, laureate of Exhibition of the achievements of the national economy (awarded three medals).

The department was one of the first in Ukraine to train specialists in the speciality ‘Management of Organisations’. On the basis of the bachelor's degree in this speciality, since 1996, the department has been training masters in the programme ‘Small Business Management’, and since 1999 - in the programme ‘Management of Corporations (JSC)’. This programme was the first of its kind in Ukraine.

Since 2019, the department has been headed by Mykhailo Sahaidak, Doctor of Economics, Professor.
